About Reza Farrokhfal
Reza Farrokhfal was born in 1949. His literary work began with the publication of stories in Jong-e Isfahan in the late 1960s, a journal founded and sustained by Houshang Golshiri and his colleagues, and known as one of the influential literary magazines of its period.
Since then, Farrokhfal has published short fiction, essays, translations, and studies in Iran. His collection Ah, Istanbul has been recognized by critics and scholars as one of the notable achievements of Iranian short fiction in the 1980s.
He also worked for many years as an editor for respected publishing houses. Together with Karim Emami, he was among the founders of the first association of editors in Iran.
Education & Teaching
Farrokhfal studied at Pahlavi University in Shiraz and Concordia University in Montreal. He has taught Persian at McGill University, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the University of Colorado Boulder.
